Research
Know the details about the company: the nature of its business or the products and services it offers, its history, its development, its organizational goals, and most especially, the position it is currently hiring for. This will help intelligently discuss what you can offer to the company during your interview.
Know specifically about the position you are applying for within that company. This will help you know what skills, knowledge and attitude you have that the company needs in an employee. This will help you learn your edge for that certain position. Never come to an interview without knowing anything about the company and never come to an interview if you do not know what position you are applying for.
Rehearse
As an applicant, you must come prepared for the job interview. You should know what the company is offering the job and what position you are applying for. You must also know what your answers would be to some probable questions which might be asked during the interview. Do not make the actual interview your rehearsal time, so be sure you have already practiced your lines before coming to an interview.
Rehearsal is vital in any performance. How you will perform in the interview is going to be about 80% of how well you did during your rehearsals. So make it a point to perform perfectly during the rehearsal. There could be many circumstances during the real interview that could keep you from performing perfectly. But at least by that point you have prepared alternative responses in case things do not go as you expect.
Needing the job is different from wanting the job. Keep in mind that you applied wtih the company and for that certain position because you want it. If you need a job, you can go to any company and apply for any job position. So if you are going to rehearse, make sure you prepare statements that show how much you want the job.
